About
quik
I'm quik: network engineer, video gamer, science junkie, and tool builder. I've been around the internet since the late 90s under the handle quikchaos (previously QuiK_ChaoS), mostly lurking in gaming communities, Gentoo forums, photography, and graphic design before shifting back into networking, infrastructure, and system programming.
My favorite languages to learn were Perl and PHP. I prefer generating HTML and CSS, and minimal borrowed TypeScript. I learned C without ever using it much, so getting into Rust from the book was straightforward, but I have much to learn.
I spend a large part of my time studying the capabilities of Veilid (opens in new tab), an open peer‑to‑peer network where traffic is encrypted end to end, and contributing back where I can. The radio projects are the other long‑running focus, alongside Deadband, a persistent‑universe space strategy game built on a Rust world engine with a Godot client, designed so the universe can persist on Veilid.
I also contribute to QX9 (opens in new tab), an engineering and design project working on encrypted infrastructure for critical communications (see the ecosystem page).
